The Challenge
With an estate of 15 Health and Fitness clubs there was a requirement for standardisation and consistency, to ensure that organisational training signatures are met. Total Fitness already has an experienced Personal Development Team (PDT) however, these are enriched roles to their normal day to day responsibilities and up-skilling was required to enable the teams success.
The Solution
Up-skilling the PDT on the principles of adult learning enabled them to apply context, empathy and greater engagement in each of their sessions, regardless of their specialist topic.
The Result
Excelsior created a learning journey for the PDT that provided them with the confidence and competence to deliver interactive, structured and outcome orientated internal learning sessions to the wider Total Fitness team.
“It was a pleasure to work with Keith and Chris on this project. From the start to the finish they took the time and care to work with us, to bespoke the programme to our specific needs.
To ease the learners onto the course Keith and/or Chris spoke with every attendee in advance, so they felt more comfortable about coming to the first day. Between the two days of delivery/ assessment the team all wrote and practiced delivering their own session. As part of this the learners were expected to use both their knowledge and some of the methods, they had been taught do teach a micro lesson back to their peers, where they received feedback.
The feeling from the course was that everyone had taken a great deal away in terms of how to better structure their sessions, how to enable adult learning in different ways and how to improve engagement with their own learners. We hope we have the opportunity to work with Keith and Chris again.”
