The Challenge
With a gym refresh comes the opportunity to up-skill the teams on how to create enhanced exerciser experiences. Excelsior was asked to create and deliver education and training that supported the facilities audience, while crafting and practicing the team’s teaching performance. The challenge was to do this according to facilities values, whilst aligning with the training equipment available.
The Solution
Excelsior designed and delivered four days education and training around the following topic areas:
- Fundamental movement skills
- High Intensity Interval Training
- Small Group Training Fundamentals
- Communication and teaching skills
The Result
The education and training delivered by Excelsior was well received by the team. The sessions were interactive, insightful and beneficial for the each individual’s personal development needs and in terms of content, the material was reported to be of very high standard, according to the team at Sedbergh.
All the training days started at foundational level, building the learners knowledge, confidence and competence according to their individual needs and abilities.
With regard to delivery style, the learning is extremely interactive giving Sedbergh’s people the opportunity to practice what they were learning, whilst gathering both peer and teacher led feedback.
It was great working with Paul and Keith on this project. They made everything from start to finish both simple and effective. The training was really well received by the team and has made a real difference to the way we use the equipment, to tell our story. We do this whilst still helping our customers get the most out of their sessions. In terms of both the content and teaching style, this was unique with the focusing being on how to best demonstrate empathy to our customers, while creating exercise experiences that were appropriate to their needs and wants. We hope to have the Excelsior team come back and support us again, so we can further develop our people, who in turn can better support our customers.
